A graduate of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and, for a decade, a scenic artist for Singapore television, Ang Leng Yong paints the life of the region in oil — its markets, streets and rivers — and is a two-time recipient of the Dr Tan Tsze Chor Art Award.
Ang Leng Yong is an oil painter whose subjects are drawn from everyday life — the crowded market, the roadside game of chess, the quiet river. His paintings carry the observant eye of an artist who spent much of his career building scenes for the screen.
He completed his secondary education at Yuying Secondary School in 1963 and graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1966. From 1990 to 2000 he worked as a scenic artist in the Scenery Department of the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation.
